ClipSplit Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

ClipSplit ("the app", "we") splits videos into shorter parts on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain words.

The short version

What the app handles on your phone only

WhatWhyLeaves your phone?
The video you choose or share to ClipSplitTo split it into partsNo
The parts it createsSaved to your gallery (Movies/ClipSplit) or shared where you chooseOnly where you send them
A count of splits and the time of the last full-screen adTo space out adsNo

ClipSplit uses Android's photo picker, so it only sees the one video you pick. It does not request access to your whole gallery, contacts, camera, microphone, or location.

Information collected by third-party services

Google AdMob (ads)

To show ads, limit how often they appear, and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares with Google:

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time from the app menu (⋮ → Ad privacy choices). Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads).

Google's use of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).

Google Firebase Remote Config (app settings)

The app downloads a small set of settings (for example, how often ads may appear) from Google Firebase, so they can be changed without an app update. To do this, Firebase uses a random installation ID and basic app and device information (app version, OS version). It is used only to deliver those settings. See https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics)

To learn which features people use and what goes wrong, the app records anonymous events with Google Analytics for Firebase, for example "a video was opened", "a split finished", "parts were saved" or "a split failed". Each event carries only coarse details:

This data is used only to improve ClipSplit (and, with your consent where required, to measure how ads perform). It is not used to identify you, it is not combined with your advertising ID by the app, and it is not sold. Google processes it on our behalf as a service provider.

Your choices: if you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, analytics follows the choice you made in the consent message, which you can change under ⋮ → Ad privacy choices. Anywhere, you can reset the app's data (Settings → Apps → ClipSplit → Storage → Clear data) to get a new random app instance ID, or uninstall the app to stop all collection. See https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Problem reports (only if you choose to send one)

If a video can't be split, the app offers a Send report button. Nothing is sent unless you tap it and then send the message yourself from your email (or another app). The report contains only technical details: the video's formats (for example, "H.264 video, AAC audio, 1280×720, 2:30"), the error message, your phone model, and the Android and app versions. It never includes the video itself or its file name. You can read the full report before sending it. If you send it by email, we will see your email address and use it only to reply about the problem.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share any information with anyone other than the Google services listed above, which process it as described here.

Security

The app's network traffic to Google services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Data retention and deletion

We don't keep any data about you on our own servers, because there aren't any. Usage statistics are kept in Google Analytics for at most 14 months and then deleted automatically. Problem-report emails are deleted once the issue is resolved, or sooner if you ask. Data collected by Google is kept according to Google's policies; you can reset your advertising ID at any time. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone (the parts you saved to your gallery stay, because they are yours).

Children

ClipSplit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
